Window Installation in Windsor

Window Installation for Windsor homes

Windsor's housing ranges from early-1900s homes in Walkerville and the older core to post-war bungalows and newer subdivisions. Windsor's older homes often have original wood windows, or aluminum replacements installed decades ago, set into frames that have shifted over time. Full-frame replacement is common here, letting us repair rotted sills, insulate the gaps properly and finish openings that may no longer be square.

What's included

Replacement and new-construction windows installed square, sealed and properly flashed. Depending on your project, the work can include:

• Replacement windows
• Full-frame replacement
• New and enlarged openings
• Basement egress windows
• Interior and exterior finishing
• Measure and consult.
• Quote and order.
• Installation.
• Finishing and cleanup.

Full details, our process and common questions are on our main window installation page.

Local conditions in Windsor

Windsor sees hot, humid summers, strong thunderstorms and repeated freeze-thaw cycles each winter, all of which are hard on roofs, siding, eavestroughs and wood trim. Mature trees on many older streets add leaf build-up and shade that can hold moisture against the house, so we pay close attention to drainage, flashing and ventilation.

Questions to ask before you hire

Whoever you hire for window installation in Windsor, get clear answers to these before signing:

• Is the quote for insert or full-frame replacement, and why?
• How will each opening be insulated, sealed and flashed?
• What interior and exterior finishing is included?

Permits and approvals

Building permits in Windsor are issued by the City of Windsor's building department, and zoning rules come from the City's zoning by-law. Requirements depend on the scope of work, so we confirm what applies to your project during planning and handle applications for the work we're doing.
